Winter Lights Festival Kópavogur Church + Gerður Helgadóttir
Kopavogur Church and Gerður Helgadóttir’s stained glass windows will be bathed in light and colours on Friday, 6 – 12 p.m. Inside the church, Gerður Helgadóttir’s proposals for an altarpiece will be exhibited. Gerður worked on the proposals in 1971, but no agreement was reached on their content and they did not materialize. In the exhibition, visitors are given the opportunity to view the sketches in the context in which they were conceived, inside the church together with Gerður Helgadóttir’s stained glass windows.
Kópavogur Church will be open on Friday, 5. February, 5-9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 6. – 7. February, 12 – 4 p.m. A guided tour of the exhibition will be given on Saturday at 12pm by curator Anna Karen Skúladóttir, Hallgerður Hallgrímsdóttir and Rev. Sigurður Arnarson, pastor of Kópavogskirkja.
